  I don't have a problem with State Farm, but they are only as good as their agents and this office could use some work in learning how to treat their customers. I have actually never spoken with the agent only the people in their office... We recently had a sewer back-up in our home and when I called for the claim I was surprised to find out that we didn't have that coverage (my fault for not double checking the policy) but never was I told that I would need to add that or even suggested that we add that to our renters policy. Had it ever been brought up I would have added it immediately. My problem however is not with the lack of coverage, but more the attitude of one of the staff when I called. He was rude and completely unhelpful... I was not at any point rude or even raise my voice or blame them. But I had to listen to him explain that I didn't have that and that I hadn't been paying for that (kind of figured that out when I was told I didn't have that coverage)... Never once did he express any kind of empathy or offer to add that to my policy. Honestly a "I'm sorry you don't have that coverage it's a separate addendum if you want to call back in a few days and discuss adding it to your policy" would have been a perfect way to address the situation. I have no tolerance for rude people so I took my business elsewhere. Amazingly the new insurance guy said they quote with that coverage and have people sign-off on what they are declining if they don't want it... Wish I would have switched earlier. New guy brought all materials to my home, was friendly, reviewed our coverage made suggestions on what we should change... I don't want the lowest price I want someone who is making sure I have the right coverage and is friendly and wants to take care of our family. Goodbye State Farm. A little bit of customer service and I would have been adding to my policy and not taking my business elsewhere.
